Established with a rich history and a presence in numerous international locations, gategroup prides itself on delivering high-quality culinary products and services that meet stringent airline specifications and passenger expectations. This company operates at the intersection of food innovation, safety standards, and operational excellence, supporting a dynamic and fast-paced environment essential for flight catering operations. Known for fostering a culture grounded in values like excellence, integrity, passion, and accountability, gategroup offers a collaborative workplace where employees are encouraged to grow, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to the team and company success.

The role of Head Cook at gategroup is an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals who are passionate about food preparation and leadership within a high-volume institutional catering environment. The Head Cook is essential in preparing and cooking a variety of food items according to precise recipes, ensuring that the food quality, safety, and presentation meet the strict standards required for airline catering. Beyond the culinary craftsmanship, the Head Cook leads and monitors the kitchen team’s production performance, supporting and guiding other cooks to achieve optimal efficiency and adherence to hygiene regulations. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced setting often subject to variable hours including weekends and holidays.

Located in East Boston, Massachusetts, the position involves working at the 1013_GG East unit, where the candidate will be part of a dedicated team focused on delivering timely and exceptional service. Responsibilities include assembling airline equipment following detailed diagrams, preparing and packaging food and alcoholic beverages for flights, maintaining compliance with sanitation and inventory documentation standards, and providing support to Hot Food leadership in managing team production quality. The Head Cook will also ensure company policies are strictly followed and contribute to administrative duties required for smooth kitchen operations.

Applicants should bring a culinary degree or cook certification, along with at least two years of experience in a comparable high-volume catering or institutional food preparation setting. Recipe conversion expertise and experience with temperature log maintenance are critical for success in this role. Effective communication skills in reading, writing, and following food specifications and recipes are necessary to coordinate with supervisors and coworkers. Handling various food products safely, operating kitchen tools efficiently, and adapting to a demanding work environment with physical requirements such as lifting and standing for extended periods are integral aspects of this position.

Joining gategroup as a Head Cook means becoming part of a team that values respect, accountability, and a passion for culinary excellence. The employer is committed to diversity and equal opportunity, fostering a workplace where employees are empowered to do their best work and create memorable experiences for travelers.
