The Cook position at gategroup plays a pivotal role in maintaining the quality and consistency of food prepared for airline service. Responsible for preparing and cooking various food items in accordance with established recipes and airline specifications, the Cook leads in monitoring production quality and efficiency among fellow cooks. This role demands proficiency in handling a wide variety of food products including seafood, beef, pork, poultry, fruits, and vegetables while ensuring compliance with sanitation and safety standards. The Cook assembles equipment and packages beverages to meet airline requirements and documents inventory accurately. Working in a high-volume institutional catering environment, this position requires adaptability to varying schedules and the physical ability to manage large quantities of supplies under conditions involving noise and extreme temperature changes. Job Requirements
- Handle various food products such as seafood, beef, pork, poultry, fruits, and vegetables
- Handle knives and kitchen tools properly
- Work assigned schedule which may vary and could include weekends and holidays
- Work overtime when required
- Arrive to work on-time
- Complete paperwork and related administrative duties
- Comply with company policies
Job Qualifications
- Culinary degree and/or cook certification is preferred
- At least 2 years of experience cooking in a high volume institutional catering environment is preferred
- Experience with maintaining temperature logs for all food items prepared
- Recipe conversion experience to accommodate daily production needs is required
- Ability to read, write and follow food specifications and menu guidelines
- Effective communication skills with supervisors and coworkers
Job Duties
- Assembles equipment according to airline specifications following procedures and assembly diagrams
- Packages and prepares alcoholic beverages for airline flights
- Keeps production areas in compliance with sanitation standards and customer requirements
- Documents inventory in compliance with requirements
- Follows directions
- Works as a member of a team
- Supports Hot Food leadership in monitoring team's production quality and efficiencies
- Performs additional duties as assigned by management
