Job Description
Gategroup is a leading global provider of catering and hospitality services to the airline industry. With a strong commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, gategroup supports airline clients by delivering freshly prepared meals, snacks, and beverages that meet high standards of safety, flavor, and presentation. The company excels in providing tailored culinary experiences across a variety of service platforms, combining global reach with local expertise. It fosters a culture of excellence, integrity, passion, and accountability, ensuring that employees uphold these values to create positive customer experiences and a supportive work environment for their teams.
The Cook role at gategroup is pivotal in ensuring that food preparation and cooking processes align with the company’s rigorous quality and safety regulations. Starting at a competitive wage of $21.00 per hour, this position involves hands-on preparation and cooking of diverse food items including seafood, beef, pork, poultry, fruits, and vegetables, amongst others. The role demands attention to detail, the ability to follow recipes and assembly instructions precisely, and the capacity to monitor other cooks’ production as a lead member of the kitchen team. This includes assembling equipment according to airline specifications, preparing alcoholic beverages for airline flights, and maintaining compliance with sanitation standards.
The ideal candidate for this position has a culinary degree or cook certification, though experience in a high-volume institutional catering environment is equally valued. Practical experience with temperature logs and recipe conversions to meet daily production requirements is essential. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced, with exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and the physical demands of regularly lifting and moving items up to 50 pounds.
Teamwork and effective communication are vital to this role, as the cook must work collaboratively with supervisors and co-workers, support leadership in maintaining efficient production standards, and embrace the company values through respectful conduct and accountability. The position requires flexibility with schedules, including potential weekend and holiday shifts and occasional overtime. Administrative tasks such as completing paperwork and inventory documentation are part of the daily routine. Safety and sanitation compliance cannot be overstated, as the role operates within strict food safety guidelines designed to protect consumer health and enhance the travel culinary experience.
By joining gategroup, employees become part of a diverse and inclusive workforce with equitable employment practices. The company is dedicated to fostering a culture where passion for culinary excellence drives operational success and where every employee’s contribution helps elevate the experience of airline customers worldwide. This position is an excellent opportunity for motivated culinary professionals looking to grow in a reputable global service organization that values respect, integrity, and continuous improvement.
