The role of Cook at Gate Gourmet Atlanta (Unit 1002_GG Atlanta 301) is a pivotal position responsible for preparing and cooking a diverse array of food items according to established recipes, while also acting as a lead who monitors the production work of other cooks. This role requires adherence to high sanitation standards, precise documentation of inventory, and sound teamwork and communication skills to deliver quality food that meets customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
The position demands flexibility as shifts may vary and include weekends, holidays, and required overtime. The work environment entails exposure to extreme temperature changes and noise; physical demands include frequent lifting, moving, and handling of food products and equipment. The cook must be capable of working efficiently with various food products such as seafood, beef, pork, poultry, fruits, and vegetables, while properly handling knives and other kitchen tools.
Gate Gourmet seeks candidates with a culinary degree or relevant cook certification preferred, and experience in high-volume institutional catering settings is valued. The cook will work under Hot Food leadership, ensuring production quality and efficiency, and assisting with recipe conversions and maintaining temperature logs to accommodate daily kitchen production needs. Effective communication with supervisors and peers is essential.

Job Requirements
- Handle various food products such as seafood, beef, pork, poultry, fruits, and vegetables
- handle knives and kitchen tools properly
- work assigned schedule including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications
- Culinary degree or cook certification preferred
- at least 2 years of experience cooking in high volume institutional catering environment preferred
- experience with maintaining temperature logs for all food items prepared
- recipe conversion experience required to accommodate daily production needs
- ability to read, write, and follow food specifications and menu guidelines
- effective communication with supervisors and co-workers
Job Duties
- Assemble equipment according to airline specifications following procedures and assembly diagrams
- package and prepare alcoholic beverages for airline flights
- keep production areas in compliance with sanitation standards and customer requirements
- document inventory in compliance with requirements
- follow directions

- support hot food leadership in monitoring team's production quality and efficiencies
