The Cook position at gategroup plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality culinary service for airline passengers. This role involves preparing and cooking various food items according to strict recipes and airline specifications. The Cook is responsible not only for food preparation but also for monitoring cooking production as a lead, ensuring that food safety, sanitation standards, and customer requirements are met consistently. Candidates must be motivated, engaged, and able to work as a dynamic member of the team, supporting leadership in maintaining production quality and efficiency. The position requires handling a variety of foods such as seafood, beef, pork, poultry, fruits, and vegetables, and demands physical stamina to work in environments with extreme temperature changes, noise, and lifting up to 50 pounds frequently. This is a high-volume, institutional catering environment with structured processes for inventory documentation, temperature monitoring, and recipe adjustments. Job Requirements
- handle various food products such as seafood, beef, pork, poultry, fruits, and vegetables
- handle knives and kitchen tools properly
- work assigned schedule which may vary and could include weekends and holidays
- work overtime when required
- arrive to work on time
- complete paperwork and related administrative duties
- comply with company policies
- be able to lift, push, pull, and move product, equipment and supplies up to fifty pounds frequently during shift
- regularly stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently during shifts of 8+ hours
- be willing to work in environments with extreme temperature changes and noise
Job Qualifications
- culinary degree and/or cook certification is preferred
- at least 2 years of experience cooking in a high volume institutional catering environment is preferred
- experience with maintaining temperature logs for all food items prepared
- recipe conversion experience required to accommodate kitchen’s daily production needs
- read, write, and follow food specifications and menu guidelines
- communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers
Job Duties
- assemble equipment according to airline specifications following procedures and assembly diagrams
- package and prepare alcoholic beverages for airline flights
- keep production areas in compliance with sanitation standards and customer requirements
- document inventory in compliance with requirements
- follow directions
- work as a member of a team
- support hot food leadership in monitoring team's production quality and efficiencies
