Job Description

CES is currently seeking a Dietary Cook to join its growing team. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an organized, detail-oriented, and dependable individual committed to meaningful work with plenty of growth potential. The Dietary Cook will play a vital role in maintaining the health and nutrition of the residents by preparing meals that meet specific dietary requirements and adhering strictly to menus and facility procedures. This is a full-time role offering first shifts from 5:30 am to 2:00 pm or 11:30 am to 8:00 pm. The position provides competitive pay and excellent employee benefits.

As a Dietary Cook at Community Eldercare Services, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food according to prescribed diet specifications, ensuring that meal portions are accurate and consistent with menu plans. You will collaborate with dietary staff to support food preparation, serving, and cleaning duties while maintaining sanitation standards for dishes, utensils, work areas, and kitchen equipment. Close attention to detail is essential when checking meal trays against diet cards to ensure accuracy and compliance with dietary restrictions. The cook is also tasked with inventory management, including the storage and organization of food supplies to ensure readiness for upcoming meals and assisting with inventorying incoming goods.

This role requires strong teamwork and communication skills as you will work closely with the Dietary Manager and other team members to maintain a safe and efficient kitchen environment. Flexibility is also important as the Dietary Cook may need to perform various additional duties to support the overall operation. The successful candidate will possess demonstrated skills in multitasking, customer service, and intermediate computer literacy. Outstanding communication abilities—both written and verbal—are highly desirable.

Job Duties

  • prepare and cook food according to resident diet specifications menus and facility procedures
  • review menus prior to food preparation and ensure accurate portioning
  • direct and assist dietary staff in food preparation serving and cleaning
  • ensure sanitation of dishes utensils work areas and equipment
  • check meal trays for accuracy with diet cards
  • maintain proper storage of foods and supplies ensuring readiness for upcoming meals
  • assist in inventorying and storing incoming foods and supplies
  • review diet changes and adjust menus as necessary
  • collaborate with dietary manager and team to maintain a safe organized and efficient kitchen
