This vibrant community is designed for well-traveled, outdoor-loving seniors who enjoy an active and engaging lifestyle. Residents often spend their time socializing over meals, exploring nearby hiking trails, or simply appreciating the breathtaking natural surroundings. Timber Ridge distinguishes itself as the East Seattle area's premier Silver LEED-certified Life Plan Community, reflecting a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and quality of life. The campus and its beautiful natural setting echo the residents' deep appreciation for the Pacific Northwest. With a unique blend of an all-inclusive lifestyle, exceptional hospitality, and a stunning location, Timber Ridge at Talus offers an unparalleled senior living experience.

We are currently seeking an experienced Cook to join our Culinary Services and Food and Beverage Department, specifically working within our Health Center. This is a full-time position with shifts available from 7am to 3:30pm or 11am to 7:30pm, offering a competitive hourly pay range from $21 to $26. As a Cook at Timber Ridge, you will play a vital role in preparing nutritious and delicious meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our senior residents. Your work will directly contribute to enhancing the quality of life of those who call our community home.

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing all food items according to standardized recipes, ensuring consistency, taste, and presentation. You will handle cooking tasks including boiling, braising, roasting, sautéing, frying, grilling, steaming, and baking various dishes, including soups, stocks, sauces, and entrees. Coordination with meal serving schedules will be essential to guarantee that food is served at optimal temperature and quality. Additionally, you will manage food supplies by determining daily requirements and ensuring timely retrieval from storage to maintain smooth kitchen operations.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience working as a cook in hotels, restaurants, clubs, or similar establishments. Strong communication skills, basic arithmetic competency, and the ability to interpret recipes and instructions accurately are essential. Familiarity with kitchen equipment operation, maintenance, and a foundational understanding of nutrition and diet will help you succeed in this position. You will also be expected to maintain a clean and safe workstation, adhere to personal hygiene standards, and comply with departmental policies including dress code.

Timber Ridge values ongoing professional development and provides continuous training and career advancement opportunities. Our team-oriented atmosphere fosters a fun, engaging work environment where your contributions are appreciated and recognized. We offer numerous benefits to support your health, well-being, and work-life balance, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability coverage, 401(k) with company match, health and flexible savings accounts, employee assistance programs, and more. Additional perks include tuition reimbursement, employee discounts, free meals, free Lyft rides to and from the Issaquah Transit Center, free underground parking, gym access, shower facilities, and a generous paid time off policy including eight paid holidays. We even offer citizenship application reimbursement and prepaid bus passes to support our diverse community of employees.
