The Cook role at Legends involves crucial responsibilities centered around food preparation, execution, and delivery of safely handled food to customer-facing employees for service. This position is vital in upholding the standards of food safety, quality, and operational efficiency within the dynamic hospitality environment of Legends. The Cook assists in the receiving, proper storage, and labeling of food items using the FIFO (First In First Out) method to guarantee freshness and reduce waste. Maintaining a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen environment is a core part of the job, alongside executing recipes correctly and efficiently to meet service demand.
Focused on teamwork and clear communication, the Cook works closely with supervisors, attendants, chefs, and management to ensure smooth operations during scheduled events, which often require flexibility in shift schedules including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. This role demands a proactive, self-motivated individual who can thrive in a fast-paced setting, demonstrating exceptional attention to detail, punctuality, and professionalism at all times. Knowledge of sanitation procedures and the ability to maintain a safe kitchen environment are emphasized. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- two to four years relevant food service experience
- ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
- knowledge of sanitation and safety protocols
- physical ability to lift, stand, kneel and walk for long periods
- basic English reading and speaking skills
- punctuality and reliable attendance
- ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
- good communication and teamwork skills
- self-motivated and organized
- ability to maintain personal hygiene and professional appearance
- capable of working under pressure
- ability to adapt quickly to changing situations
- willingness to be reassigned within venue as needed
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- degree or certificate in culinary arts preferred
- two to four years working in a fast paced restaurant, caterer or other relevant food service area
- proactive, self-motivated, organized and ability to prioritize
- clean and constantly aware of sanitation procedures
- ability to work under pressure and adapt to change quickly
- punctual and dependable
- able to read and retain information such as recipes, prep lists, menus and signage
- able to perform simple mathematical calculations
- able to speak and read basic English
- able to work well with others in a stressful environment
- able to move quickly and act on assigned duties
- maintain personal hygiene and well groomed appearance
- ability to walk long distances and stand for extended periods
- able to stand, kneel, lift at least 30 pounds, carry items, push carts, walk at a fast pace and bend down
- experience working in a fast paced, professional kitchen in close quarters to fellow workers
Job Duties
- Assist in receiving and storing all food deliveries
- follows FIFO method for receiving and storing food
- label and date all food items upon receiving to enforce FIFO
- make sure product is rotated when storing on designated storage shelves
- notify manager or chef of any expired product
- maintain a friendly, positive attitude and a professional demeanor at all times
- report for scheduled event on time and report to assigned area in a timely manner
- fulfill the assigned opening and closing duties
- report to direct supervisor for prep lists and time lines of the days tasks
- carry out assigned tasks in a timely and safe fashion using correct recipes
- constant maintenance of walk-in coolers, reach-ins, dry storage and all work areas
- must have extensive knowledge of all menus being offered including specials
- communicate with supervisors, attendants, runners, chefs and legends management
- work as a team with fellow associates and other service departments within venue
- attention to detail that will exceed expectations
- maintain a clean, sanitary and orderly setting within the kitchen
- complete closing duties and checkout with manager/supervisor
- must know the layout of the kitchen and back of the house area where working and be able to direct staff and guests to their designation
- must be aware of other food and beverage outlets within the venue
- may be re-assigned to a different location based on venue needs
- must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends and holidays
