The Cook position at Summit Placerville is a full-time, onsite role ideal for culinary professionals passionate about food preparation in a high-volume setting emphasizing scratch cooking. The hourly compensation starts at $24.00, reflecting the value the company places on skilled kitchen staff. This role requires working collaboratively with a motivated and energetic kitchen team to deliver high-quality meals efficiently and consistently. It offers an excellent chance to apply and enhance culinary techniques in a correctional environment that demands both creativity and adherence to strict safety standards.
As a cook, you will be responsible for maintaining stringent quality and portion control, ensuring that each dish meets the company’s standards for taste and presentation. Your duties will extend beyond cooking to include maintaining kitchen cleanliness, proper food storage, and compliance with all food safety policies. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of prior culinary experience in a high-volume, quality-focused establishment, showcasing a working knowledge of professional cooking methods and an ability to multitask effectively under pressure.
Summit values attention to detail and the ability to operate various kitchen tools and equipment safely. Customer service experience is also important, as interactions with the broader team and occasionally with inmates require professionalism and positive communication. Those holding a food handlers’ certification are preferred but not mandatory, providing an additional advantage in this role.
