The position available is for an experienced Cook who will play a crucial role in preparing all food items for multiple hotel outlets following standardized recipes while adhering to sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards. This role is essential to maintaining Azul Hospitality's reputation for delivering high-quality, consistent dishes to guests. The Cook will utilize a variety of kitchen equipment, including blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers, and tenderizers, to prepare meals efficiently and according to the hotel’s high standards. They will also be responsible for operating large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, and griddles. Attention to detail is critical, as the Cook must measure and mix ingredients precisely, set up their station with the necessary mise en place for service functions, and regulate cooking temperatures using thermostat controls.

Maintaining cleanliness is a key component of this role. The Cook will ensure that all food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils are cleaned regularly and comply with the hotel’s sanitation policies. Health and safety standards must be consistently upheld to create a safe working environment and to guarantee that the food served meets quality and quantity requirements.

The role requires a physically demanding work routine, including standing for extended periods, working in extreme temperatures both in freezers and hot kitchens, and the ability to lift up to 45 pounds and move heavy equipment safely. Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently while also collaborating within a team are essential. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years' experience in high-volume cooking environments, hold a Food Handlers certification, and possess strong knowledge of various cooking methods such as grilling, baking, and boiling.

Job Requirements

  • High school or equivalent education
  • Minimum 2 years cooking experience preferably in high volume environments
  • Food handlers certification required
  • Ability to stand and perform well-paced mobility for up to four hours
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures both cold (-10°F) and hot (+110°F)
  • Ability to lift up to 45 pounds
  • Ability to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 pounds
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per company standards
  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Compliance with hotel safety and security policies
  • Ability to follow instructions and perform all assigned duties

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepare food items for customers using a quality predetermined method in a timely and consistent manner
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes using kitchen utensils and equipment like blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers, and tenderizers
  • Operate large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, or griddles
  • Set up station with predetermined mise en place required to service all functions
  • Adjust thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, boilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles
  • Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils
  • Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas
  • Verify that prepared food meets requirements for quality and quantity
  • Perform all other duties assigned by manager or supervisor
