The employment opportunity for the role of Cook is event-based and requires dedication to a fixed schedule during the PGA Championships. This position offers a bonus incentive for employees who successfully complete all 8 scheduled days without tardiness or absence, with Sunday work being a mandatory commitment alongside any other chosen days. Prior to confirmation, candidates must connect with the screening team to understand bonus details and procedural expectations.
The Cook role involves preparing food according to specifications before and during the PGA Championships, ensuring portion control, food quality, and adherence to department policies and standards. The position requires proficient use of various kitchen equipment such as knives, slicers, whips, pots, pans, warmers, steamers, grills, and ovens. Cooks must maintain proper food temperatures, store ingredients correctly to preserve freshness, and package products following precise guidelines. Maintaining a clean and organized work area, coolers, and equipment is essential, alongside strict compliance with health codes and sanitation regulations. Waste control and end-of-day inventory tasks are integral parts of the role, along with performing any additional duties assigned by supervisors. Job Requirements
- manual dexterity sufficient to chop, mix, blend, whip etc a variety of foods and liquids
- ability to lift and carry large pans, weighing up to 50 lbs
- ability to handle and/or operate all kitchen equipment in a safe manner
- standing and walking for entire length of shift
- frequently required to reach up to 6-7 feet, twist at waist, bending and squatting
- pushing and pulling occasionally, to move equipment, mops, and brooms
- kitchen environment noise levels may be moderate-to-high
- works frequently in a hot and damp environment
Job Qualifications
- at least 6 months previous experience in back-of-the-house foodservice position
- ability to read and comprehend prep sheets and recipes
- basic math skills, ability to understand, calculate and follow recipe measurements and proportions
- available leading up to and during the event
Job Duties
- prepares food to specifications before and during the event
- properly measures and portions all food items
- complies with all portion sizes, quality standards, department rules, policies, and procedures
- utilizes kitchen equipment to prepare food items such as knives, slicers, whips, pots, pans, warmers, steamers, grills, ovens
- ensures proper food temperatures are maintained and food is stored correctly
- ensures freshness and quality of all menu items and packages all products to proper specifications
- keeps workstation, coolers, and equipment clean, organized, sanitized, and sufficiently stocked
- follows and upholds all health codes and sanitation regulations
- uses waste control guidelines and records all waste on spoilage sheet
- completes end of day inventory and other opening/closing duties in accordance with checklists and procedures
- performs other duties assigned
