Job Description
Iris Memory Care is a specialized assisted living community focused on providing exceptional memory care services in Northwest Oklahoma City. This community is dedicated to supporting individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia by offering a safe, compassionate, and enriching environment. Iris Memory Care is known for its smaller, more intimate setting that fosters a close-knit atmosphere where every resident is treated like family. Their approach not only emphasizes quality care but also prioritizes understanding the unique stories and needs of each resident, ensuring a personalized experience that goes beyond standard caregiving.
The role of Cook/Chef at Iris Memory Care is a vital position within this supportive community. This full-time, benefits-eligible position offers a competitive pay of $17 per hour and a schedule from Wednesday to Saturday. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the well-being and satisfaction of residents by preparing and serving high-quality meals tailored to meet specific dietary requirements. Working independently in the kitchen, the Cook/Chef will be responsible for meal preparation, following established menu cycles, and ensuring that every dish is nutritious, delicious, and aligned with individual dietary plans.
The work environment at Iris Memory Care is unique, focused on the special needs of older adults with memory-related illnesses. As a Cook/Chef in this setting, it is essential to not only have culinary skills but also a genuine heart for caring for the elderly. This role demands attention to detail, adherence to strict health and safety guidelines, and a collaborative spirit in coordinating with care staff to fulfill the comprehensive needs of residents. You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day, knowing that your meals contribute to the comfort and happiness of people who rely on you.
In addition to meal preparation, responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and organization in both the kitchen and dining areas, handling dietary modifications, and upholding sanitation standards in compliance with health regulations. The Cook/Chef must be able to manage their time efficiently and work with minimal supervision. Physical activity, including occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, is part of the job, emphasizing the need for stamina and physical fitness.
Iris Memory Care values reliable, compassionate professionals who understand the importance of consistency for its residents. The community encourages applicants who have prior experience in similar roles, especially those familiar with special diets in healthcare or memory care environments. Working at Iris Memory Care means joining a team that deeply cares about making every meal count, bringing comfort and joy through food crafted with skill and empathy. This role highlights the unique intersection between culinary expertise and heartfelt caregiving, offering an invaluable opportunity to enhance the quality of life for residents living with dementia.
