The Cook CD - Standard position at HMSHost plays a pivotal role in maintaining the high standards of food service the company is known for. This role is responsible for preparing a variety of cooked foods and must be proficient in performing all station functions including frying, flat top griddle cooking, pantry preparation, and cooking eggs. The position demands strong communication skills to efficiently relay ticket times and potential issues to managers and servers, ensuring smooth operations. It involves following recipes and product directions closely to prepare, season, cook, taste, carve, and serve food items such as soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other menu offerings while adhering to stringent food safety and HACCP standards.

Key responsibilities include tasting products, estimating food requirements, checking production levels, and keeping accurate records to plan supply requisition effectively. The Cook CD also maintains cleanliness and sanitization of workstations and equipment, operates various kitchen machinery, measures and mixes ingredients, and handles fresh produce preparation. This position requires a commitment to excellent food safety practices, frequent lifting and movement of up to 40 pounds, and the physical stamina to stand, bend, and work in hot environments while handling sharp tools and equipment safely.

As a non-exempt role, the Cook CD typically reports to Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, or General Manager depending on local requirements. Job Requirements

  • At least 1 year of related cooking experience
  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year closely related cooking experience
  • Experience in high volume or fast casual dining preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety and HACCP standards
  • Ability to read, speak, and comprehend instructions

  • Ability to follow recipes and produce quality food

Job Duties

  • Prepare cooked foods according to recipes and product directions
  • Perform all station functions including fry, flat top griddle, pantry, and cooking eggs
  • Communicate ticket times and potential problems to management and servers

  • Follow food safety and HACCP standards
