The Saul and Claribel Simkin Centre is a well-established not-for-profit, government-funded facility located in south Winnipeg. Job Requirements

  • Grade XII education
  • English-as-a-Additional Language (EAL) Level 6 required
  • certificate from a recognized cooking school or two years experience with excellent references working as a cook or relief cook in the Simkin Centre
  • valid food handler certificate
  • minimum of two years relevant experience in a commercial kitchen
  • experience in a cook chill production environment

Job Duties

  • Cook menu items for all diets in specified quantities as per production sheets
  • follow all guidelines pertaining to Cook Chill production strictly
  • comply with Jewish dietary laws as determined by the Simkin Centre
  • maintain ingredient and portion control according to standardized recipes
  • supervise and replace dietary staff in the absence of the Food Services Manager or designate
  • perform all duties in accordance with established health and safety regulations, guidelines, policies and procedures
  • lift 50 pounds using appropriate lifting techniques
  • perform other duties as assigned
