The district actively seeks to eliminate barriers to achievement and aims to elevate student success for every student, every day, in every classroom. With a focus on creating an equitable learning environment, Adams 12 Five Star Schools supports its diverse student body through high-quality educational programs and dedicated staff members. The district operates numerous schools and educational facilities throughout the region, offering comprehensive educational services designed to meet the needs of its students and their families. The district values flexibility, inclusiveness, and community support, providing employees with opportunities for professional growth and development within a welcoming and student-focused culture.

The Nutrition Services and Cook-Cashier Trainee position is an entry-level role designed for individuals interested in contributing to the district's food service program. This role focuses on assisting with all aspects of meal preparation and service at school locations across various sites, with flexible scheduling options that adjust to candidate availability, including 3, 4, or 5-day work weeks. Trainees work hours that coincide with student schedules, facilitating convenient drop-off and pick-up times for family members. The position is hourly paid beginning at $18.40, with a pay range extending up to $23.25 depending on experience and step level within the pay grade G1. This part-time position exceeds 19 hours per week, typically spanning 9 months annually, consistent with the academic calendar.

In this role, the trainee will undergo crucial training in cashier duties and Health and Sanitation protocols (HACCP/Sanitation class). Upon successful completion of training, the individual may transition into a regular part-time employee, engaging more independently in food preparation, serving meals, cashier functions, and maintaining hygiene and safety standards consistent with Health Department requirements, state, and federal regulations. The trainee serves as a vital team member supporting the Nutrition Services department in cooking, proportioning food, setting up serving lines, handling condiments, and managing dishwashing responsibilities. Exceptional customer service skills are essential, as the trainee regularly interacts with students, faculty, and parents.

This position provides a unique opportunity for those seeking to begin a career in nutrition services within an educational setting. The district places a high priority on health and safety, ensuring that all practices comply with rigorous standards to safeguard the wellbeing of students and staff. Candidates will benefit from structured support, ongoing training, and the ability to make a meaningful impact on student nutrition and wellness. Additional perks include access to a comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees, covering medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and access to financial planning options such as 401(k), 403(b), and 457(b) plans. This position is ideal for individuals who are dependable, customer-service oriented, and eager to contribute within a collaborative team environment that values every member's contributions to student success.
