Job Description

Whitsons Culinary Group is a leading provider of food service management in the healthcare sector, dedicated to enhancing the lives of patients through nourishing, well-prepared meals. With a mission that centers around the belief that food is a powerful part of healing, Whitsons commits to delivering meals that are not only nutritious but also comforting and delicious. Their specialized healthcare food service team supports recovery and wellness by adhering to strict dietary guidelines tailored to meet the unique nutritional and medical needs of patients. Whitsons emphasizes a calm and caring kitchen environment where each meal is prepared with dedication and precision, reflecting their mission of Enhancing Life One Meal at a Time™.

The role of Healthcare Cook at Whitsons is an integral part of this mission. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about cooking to contribute meaningfully to patient care through food. The Healthcare Cook will focus on preparing and cooking meals that comply with healthcare dietary standards while maintaining high safety and sanitation standards. Importantly, this role operates on a stable and predictable schedule without late nights, providing a great work-life balance. This position is also ideal for those seeking to develop or advance their career within healthcare food service, as Whitsons provides paid training and opportunities for growth.

This role is perfect for individuals who bring a dependable and caring attitude and are enthusiastic about nourishing others in a clinical or patient-centered setting. The Healthcare Cook works closely with dietary and clinical staff to ensure that each patient's dietary restrictions and medical requirements are met through special diets and food modifications. Applicants will need at least a high school education or equivalent and must hold or be able to obtain relevant food safety certifications such as ServSafe. One year of professional culinary experience is required, and proficiency in recipe procedures and cooking techniques is essential.

The work environment primarily includes the kitchen and serving line areas with exposure to both hot and cold conditions due to cooking and refrigeration equipment. Physical stamina is necessary as the cook will be standing and moving for most of the shift, regularly lifting and moving up to 40 pounds. Despite the physical demands, the role provides a supportive team-oriented working environment where the positive impact of each meal is both recognized and valued. With competitive pay beginning at $15.00 per hour and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, retirement plans, and paid time off, this job is both fulfilling and rewarding for culinary professionals eager to make a difference in healthcare nutrition.
