In this position, you will prepare a variety of foods adhering to standardized recipes and production standards. You’ll be responsible for everything from setting up your workstation to measuring, weighing, mixing, and prepping ingredients like chopping, trimming, and peeling. Your duties will include operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers, applying multiple cooking methods including baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming, and ensuring that food is arranged, garnished, and portioned according to established guidelines. Additionally, maintaining strict adherence to food safety policies and sanitation procedures is vital to the role, as is cleaning and sanitizing all work areas and tools.

Job Requirements

  • Experience as a cook or in a related role
  • Knowledge of food preparation principles and cooking methods
  • Ability to acquire food safety certification
  • Basic math and counting skills
  • Interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to perform physical duties including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, walking, and standing for extended periods
  • Willingness to wear uniforms and use personal protective equipment (PPE)

Job Qualifications

  • Experience as a cook or in a related role required
  • Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
  • Must be able to acquire food safety certification
  • Demonstrate basic math and counting skills
  • Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal

Job Duties

  • Cook and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
  • Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
  • Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
  • Safely use a variety of utensils including knives
  • Operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
  • Bake, roast, broil, steam, and use a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
  • Arrange, garnish, and portion food according to established guidelines
  • Properly store food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Maintain excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
  • Adhere to Aramark safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation
  • Ensure security of company assets
