Red Clay Consolidated School District is a reputable educational district committed to providing exceptional educational experiences and support services to students across its schools. Among these, duPont (Alexis I.) Middle School stands out as an institution dedicated to fostering a safe and encouraging environment for young learners. The district places a significant emphasis on meal programs that ensure students receive nutritious and well-balanced meals throughout the school day. The Nutrition Services Department plays a vital role in upholding this commitment through its team of skilled professionals who work diligently to prepare meals that meet USDA standards and satisfy the dietary needs of all students.

We are currently seeking a qualified School Nutrition Cook to join our team at duPont (Alexis I.) Middle School starting August 2026. Reporting directly to the Nutrition Services Manager, Specialist, and Cafeteria Manager, the successful candidate will contribute significantly to the preparation of soups, sauces, entrees, and other menu items by following standardized USDA recipes. This role requires a commitment to maintaining food safety standards aligned with HACCP regulations, a detail-oriented approach to food preparation, and collaboration with the cafeteria team to maintain a clean and efficient kitchen environment.

The School Nutrition Cook will be responsible for ensuring that all food prep tasks, including a la carte and special function items, are completed skillfully and timely. You will be expected to efficiently plan the day's menu preparation, coordinate inventory needs, and adopt proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures to ensure compliance with district programs. In addition to cooking, your duties will include maintaining accurate production and HACCP records, assisting with receiving and storing supplies, and upholding a hygienic kitchen environment by operating cooking equipment safely and effectively. This position calls for someone with three or more years of commercial cooking or baking experience, an ability to work under supervision, and a dedication to working cooperatively within a fast-paced food service setting.

Beyond technical responsibilities, the role demands good communication skills to interact effectively with students, faculty, and coworkers, maintaining a positive and accommodating attitude. Physical demands include standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and tolerating temperature variations commonly found in kitchen environments. Candidates must hold at least a GED or high school diploma and possess ServSafe certification. Additionally, completion or willingness to complete the required Unit Classes 1 through 4 related to the position is essential.

This position offers the rewarding chance to contribute directly to the wellbeing and academic success of students in the Red Clay Consolidated School District by ensuring they have access to nutritious and safely prepared meals. If you are passionate about food service in an educational setting, committed to quality, and thrive in a supportive and cooperative environment, we encourage you to apply and become a part of our dedicated Nutrition Services team.
