Job Description

Avamere Living is a leading provider of senior living communities and services, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for seniors through comprehensive care and compassionate services. With a network of skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers, and assisted living communities, Avamere Living has established itself as a trusted name in healthcare and senior care. The company focuses on creating a warm, supportive environment where residents receive personalized care tailored to their specific needs while fostering independence and dignity. Avamere Living is committed not only to the well-being of its residents but also to the professional growth and satisfaction of its employees, offering a nurturing workplace culture based on respect, collaboration, and innovation.

The current opportunity at Avamere Riverpark of Eugene, Oregon, is for a Part-Time Cook within a skilled nursing setting. This role is pivotal in ensuring that residents receive nutritious, appealing meals prepared according to established dietary requirements and portion controls. Based at the Avamere Riverpark campus located at 425 Alexander Loop, the cook plays an essential role in the daily operations of the food service department. The cook is responsible for preparing a variety of foods from scratch in large quantities, maintaining strict food safety and hygiene standards, and collaborating closely with dietitians and nursing staff to accommodate resident dietary needs and preferences.

This position demands not only culinary skills but also a compassionate approach to service—understanding that mealtime is not only about nourishment but also an opportunity to enhance the residents' overall quality of life. The cook will inspect diet trays, coordinate meal services with other departments, manage food supplies, and review menus to ensure adherence to dietary standards. The role also involves maintaining confidentiality in line with HIPAA guidelines, reflecting the facility's commitment to resident privacy.

Avamere offers a comprehensive benefits package to part-time employees including health insurance with medical, dental, and vision plans; a 401(k) plan with a matching program after 90 days; paid time off accruing up to four weeks annually plus holidays and sick leave; Employee Assistance Program with unlimited telehealth mental health visits; continuing education and tuition reimbursement opportunities; a generous employee referral bonus; flexible spending accounts; and a range of voluntary benefits such as life insurance and pet insurance. The organization places high value on professional development, encouraging ongoing learning and career advancement within the company.

Working at Avamere Riverpark means joining a community-oriented team that values warmth, patience, and enthusiasm in its service delivery. The cook must hold a valid Food Handler's Card and active CPR/BLS certification, and ideally, have prior experience in healthcare or a similar environment. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about food service and senior care to contribute meaningfully to an esteemed healthcare provider that respects and rewards its employees. Avamere Living adheres to equal opportunity employment practices and participates in E-Verify. The role is also subject to a collective bargaining agreement with SEIU Local 503, underscoring the company’s respect for labor standards and employee rights.
