Job Description
The Salvation Army is a renowned international movement recognized as an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Rooted deeply in Biblical teachings, this organization is driven by the love of God and the mission to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ while addressing human needs without discrimination. Founded over a century ago, The Salvation Army combines religious faith with social services, providing support to vulnerable populations through outreach, shelter, rehabilitation, and community programs. Given its international presence, the organization advocates compassion, integrity, and service, aiming to transform lives and uplift communities globally. The Clitheroe Center, a branch of The Salvation Army, operates as a residential treatment facility offering critical services to individuals needing recovery and support. The center is dedicated to delivering holistic care by integrating spiritual guidance and practical assistance in a welcoming and respectful environment.
The role of Cook at The Salvation Army Clitheroe Center is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week with non-exempt status. This position plays a pivotal part in supporting the mission by providing nutritious, balanced, and appealing meals to residents, guests, and staff members of the 42-bed residential facility. The Cook is responsible not only for meal preparation but also for adhering to special dietary requirements that meet individual client needs. The Cook ensures compliance with food safety standards and organizational policies, contributing to a safe and sanitary kitchen environment. Successful candidates will demonstrate an understanding of trauma-informed care, work collaboratively within a team setting, and communicate effectively across diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. The role demands organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Additionally, the cook will be responsible for managing stock levels, reporting maintenance issues, and supporting kitchen operations in the absence of leadership. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute significantly towards client wellbeing and recovery in a faith-based community setting. The Cook will also participate in ongoing training and development programs under The Salvation Army's educational framework to maintain professional standards and safety protocols.
