The role of Cook at KinderCare is vital in supporting the center's mission to provide comprehensive and nurturing care for children. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing healthy and delicious meals and snacks based on menus and recipes developed by in-house nutritionists, ensuring that every child receives the essential nutrition needed to learn, grow, and thrive. This position involves maintaining cleanliness and safety in kitchen operations, ordering food and supplies to maintain inventory, and documenting activities in compliance with company policies and licensing requirements. The Cook also plays a supportive role in daily center activities, collaborating with center staff and leadership to contribute to overall goals such as enrollment growth, accreditation achievements, and community engagement.

Job Requirements
- A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day
- Familiarity with accurate conditions and food storage
- Understanding of food allergy needs and cross-contamination avoidance
- Basic math skills required for measuring and calculating portions
- Possess or be willing to obtain a Food Handler’s License
- At least one year of institutional cooking and food ordering experience preferred
- Two or more years working with children preferred
- Physically capable of lifting up to 40 pounds
- Ability to use a computer with basic proficiency
- Read, write, understand, and speak English to communicate with children and parents
Job Qualifications
- Possess a Food Handler’s License or willingness to obtain
- At least one year of institutional cooking and food ordering experience highly desirable
- Two or more years working with children highly desirable
- Basic math skills for measuring and calculating serving portions
- Ability to follow nutritious menus and prepare sufficient quantities of food
- Familiarity with food storage conditions and allergy considerations
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
Job Duties
- Prepare healthy and tasty meals and snacks following nutritional menus and recipes
- Maintain kitchen and related equipment safely and hygienically
- Order food and supplies to ensure adequate inventory
- Dispense and store medication as requested
- Complete timely and accurate documentation in compliance with KinderCare and licensing requirements
- Assist with daily center duties as needed
- Collaborate with center staff and leadership to support enrollment, accreditation, and engagement goals
