Working as a Cook at Aramark means preparing and cooking food according to standardized recipes and production guidelines to ensure consistent quality. The role requires setting up workstations with the necessary ingredients and equipment, preparing ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling, and safely using knives and other utensils. Operating various kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers is a key component of this role. The Cook will utilize different cooking methods, including baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming, to prepare meats, vegetables, and other food items.
In addition to preparing food, the Cook is responsible for arranging, garnishing, and portioning dishes in line with established guidelines to maintain presentation standards. Storing food correctly by adhering to food safety policies and procedures is essential to maintain high hygiene standards. Cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment, and utensils further ensures a safe and healthy kitchen environment. As part of maintaining Aramark’s excellent customer service, the Cook must exhibit a positive attitude and effective interpersonal skills when interacting with guests, customers, co-workers, and clients.
The role may involve physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking or standing. - Experience as a cook or in a related role required
- validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
- must be able to acquire food safety certification
- demonstrate basic math and counting skills
- demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
