The role of Cook at Prestige Senior Living - Bridgewood is a vital position within the Food and Nutrition Services department. The cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving meals that meet menu specifications, dietary requirements, and resident preferences, ensuring a pleasant and nutritious dining experience for all residents. This position requires adherence to high standards of food safety and sanitary practices, guided by the supervision of the Food and Nutrition Services Manager or Dining Services Manager. Key responsibilities include ensuring the proper cooking and holding temperatures of food, participating in menu reviews with supervisors, monitoring food supplies and kitchen equipment, and maintaining cleanliness and safety in the work environment. The cook also contributes to special event meal preparations and participates in ongoing training and development activities to stay updated on best practices. Candidates for this role should have at least one year of cooking experience in a restaurant or hospital dietary department, possess the necessary state certification or food service license, and hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Job Duties

  • Prepares, cooks, and serves food in accordance with menu and nutrition standards
  • Samples food for quality assurance prior to service
  • Ensures foods are cooked and held at appropriate temperatures
  • Records food temperatures during cooking and holding process
  • Partners with supervisor to review menus and record substitutions
  • Maintains clean and safe work area, including cleaning spills and assisting in scheduled cleaning
  • Ensures proper storage, rotation, preparation, and labeling of food following federal, state, and local guidelines
  • Assists in planning and preparing food services for special meals and events
  • Attends and participates in training, in-services, and staff meetings
