The Cook position at Meridian Senior Living is an integral role within their Dining Services team, working in close collaboration with the Dining Services Manager to oversee the community's food ordering, preparation, and delivery processes. This role not only demands culinary skill but also a heartfelt commitment to ensuring nutritional, appetizing meals prepared to meet the tastes and health needs of senior residents. Additionally, the cook is responsible for maintaining excellent kitchen sanitation standards, managing supplies and equipment efficiently, and delivering exceptional customer service to residents, families, and staff alike. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • successfully complete training as required by state regulations
  • obtain Food Handlers Permit as required by state regulations
  • six months prior experience in food service preferred
  • previous experience working with the elderly
  • compassion for and desire to work with the elderly
  • ability to work responsibly as a team member and individual
  • effective communication skills
  • meet all health requirements and pass background checks

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • successfully complete training as required by state regulations
  • six months prior experience in a food service department preferred
  • supervisory experience desirable
  • obtain Food Handlers Permit as required by state regulations
  • previous experience working with the elderly
  • compassion for and desire to work with the elderly
  • ability to work responsibly as both a team member and individual
  • effective communication skills with residents, families, staff, vendors, and the public
  • meet all health requirements and pass background checks

Job Duties

  • work closely with Dining Services Manager to plan and prepare meals
  • ensure food is prepared in a nutritional and appetizing manner
  • maintain kitchen sanitation and cleanliness
  • manage supplies and equipment efficiently
  • provide excellent customer service to residents, families, and staff
  • ensure compliance with food safety regulations
  • assist with food ordering and inventory management
