We are currently seeking a dedicated Cook Assistant to join our team in a full-time capacity, working 40 hours per week during daytime hours from Monday to Friday, typically 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. This position is hourly, entry-level, and offers a competitive wage of $15.45 per hour. The work is primarily in-person at one of our Tucson-based Head Start centers and may occasionally require limited remote work, as well as availability to work some evenings and weekends when needed.

The Cook Assistant will play a vital role in supporting our food service operations within a semi-commercial kitchen that fosters a warm, family-style meal environment. This role requires assisting the Cook with meal preparation, food ordering, inventory management, adherence to sanitary and safety practices, and maintaining compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines. The position involves preparing nutritious meals and snacks that meet Head Start standards, managing kitchen cleanliness, and supporting the overall efficiency of food service at our centers.

Responsibilities include maintaining daily records related to meal service, assisting with purchasing and inventory tasks, and ensuring kitchens meet all sanitation and safety requirements. The Cook Assistant is expected to work independently and cooperatively, demonstrating excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This entry-level role reports to the Center Manager and may occasionally involve split shifts.
