As a Cook, you will work surrounded by fresh ingredients and state-of-the-art kitchen equipment, allowing you to experiment with various cuisines, flavors, and cooking styles. Compensation for this hourly role ranges from $19.00 to $21.00, aligned with Aramark's commitment to offering competitive wages. In this role, Cooks are responsible for preparing a variety of foods according to production guidelines and standardized recipes, ensuring consistency and quality. The position involves setting up workstations with all necessary ingredients and equipment, preparing and measuring ingredients, and utilizing various cooking methods including baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming. Operational knowledge of kitchen tools and appliances like ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers is essential. Beyond food preparation, Cooks will garnish and portion food items adhering to established presentation standards while strictly following food safety policies. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, equipment, and utensils is a critical part of the daily routine.
The role requires the ability to lift, bend, push, pull, and to stand or walk for extended periods, as well as compliance with uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. Good interpersonal communication skills are necessary for fostering a positive environment for guests, clients, coworkers, and partners. Job Requirements
- Experience as a cook or in a related role required
- knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, and food safety regulations
- ability to acquire food safety certification
- basic math and counting skills
- interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
- ability to lift, bend, push, pull, and stand or walk for extended periods
- willingness to comply with uniform and personal protective equipment requirements
Job Qualifications
- Experience as a cook or in a related role required
- validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
- must be able to acquire food safety certification
- demonstrate basic math and counting skills
- demonstrate interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
Job Duties
- Cook and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
- set up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
- prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
- safely use a variety of utensils including knives
- operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers
- bake, roast, broil, steam, and use a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
- arrange, garnish, and portion food according to established guidelines
- properly store food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
- clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
- maintain excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers
- adhere to Aramark safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation
- ensure security of company assets
