The role of Line Cook II at Sonesta International Hotels is a vital part of ensuring high food quality and efficient kitchen operations. The Line Cook II is responsible for preparing and cooking all food items with a keen focus on cleanliness, sanitation, taste, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness. This role also includes the supervision of Line Cook III positions to maintain the kitchen's operational standards. The Line Cook II works closely within the kitchen team and coordinates with multiple departments such as Sales and Marketing, Catering, Banquets, Outlets, Maintenance, and Guest Services to promote teamwork and outstanding quality service. The position requires engaging communication skills, cooperation, and occasionally interacting with guests to deliver remarkable hospitality.
The Line Cook II is expected to maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards that meet or even exceed both state and local Health Board requirements as well as Sonesta’s guidelines. The role requires a focus on maintaining an organized work environment, including the upkeep of reach-ins, walk-ins, and counters, and reporting unsafe or malfunctioning equipment. Job Requirements
- Ability to carry or lift items weighing up to 50 pounds

- reading and writing abilities for meal preparation and scheduling assistance

Job Qualifications
- Basic reading writing and math skills
- some food preparation experience or training preferred
- alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required
- ability to lift and move approximately 75 pounds
- ability to bend squat kneel climb and reach daily
- ability to perform tasks requiring sustained repetitive motion
- ability to move freely within the kitchen area
- ability to clean as you go in the kitchen area

Job Duties
- Prepare and cook orders for daily operations
- advise supervisor of low inventory items
- assist in receiving items and taking inventory
- maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards as per regulations and company requirements
- maintain clean, neat, and well-organized work area
- report unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor
- perform ware washer or other kitchen duties as needed
- promote teamwork and coordinate with other departments
- occasionally interact with guests
- assist with other duties as assigned
