Job Description
ASM Global is a world-renowned venue management company that specializes in operating and managing significant entertainment and sports venues globally. One of their prominent locations, the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, provides versatile spaces for sports, concerts, conventions, and special events. As a part of ASM Global's commitment to delivering exceptional service and unforgettable experiences, they maintain high standards in all facets of their operations, including their food and beverage services. The company is recognized for its emphasis on quality, safety, and customer satisfaction across its diverse portfolio of venues.
The cook position at ASM SAVOR Alamodome is a vital role within the Food & Beverage department. This part-time, hourly, non-exempt role reports directly to the Executive Chef and Sous Chef. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and cooking of meals while ensuring the highest levels of food quality, presentation, and timing. This position plays a crucial part in daily kitchen operations, supporting the chefs by assembling ingredients, executing recipes accurately, and maintaining a sanitary environment. The cook contributes significantly to the smooth flow of food service during events, including catering, concessions, and special events hosted at the Alamodome.
Beyond the fundamental cooking tasks like grilling, baking, and boiling, the role requires attentiveness to food safety, proper storage, and kitchen cleanliness. The cook's duties include preparing ingredients, reading and executing recipes, making precise measurements, and testing food temperatures to meet safety standards. Additionally, responsibilities cover proper handling of raw and prepared foods, dishwashing, and trash disposal. The role requires wearing ASM Global’s designated uniform, including black pants and non-slip soled closed-toe shoes, and strict adherence to safety and hygiene protocols.
This role is suitable for individuals with at least 1-3 years of food service or restaurant experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a food handler’s permit per local health department regulations. Culinary certifications or ServSafe certification are advantageous but not mandatory. The position demands physical stamina, as it involves standing and walking for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in a dynamic, hot, and sometimes noisy kitchen environment. Flexibility in working evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential, as is the ability to follow both written and oral instructions efficiently.
ASM Global promotes diversity and inclusion by encouraging applications from women, minorities, individuals with disabilities, and protected veterans. The company offers reasonable accommodations to applicants throughout the application process, underlining its commitment to equal opportunity. The job not only provides an opportunity to gain or utilize culinary skills in a dynamic event venue setting but also to contribute to memorable guest experiences at a world-class facility.
