Job Description

Arrow Senior Living is a reputable senior living community known for its commitment to providing a home-like environment for its residents as well as its dedicated team members. With a strong emphasis on core values, Arrow Senior Living creates a positive and supportive atmosphere that enhances the quality of life not only for the residents but for the employees as well. This established company has gained a reputation for promoting from within, offering growth opportunities, and valuing employee appreciation through various incentives and benefits. Arrow Senior Living operates in the healthcare and senior care industry, serving a diverse population regardless of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, or handicap in compliance with state and federal law.

The available position at Arrow Senior Living is for a part-time Cook located at their Madison facility in Kansas City, MO. The starting wage for this culinary role is $17 per hour. The shift schedule includes working on Monday, Tuesday, and Sunday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. The role requires a person who is passionate about culinary arts, capable of preparing all menu items following established standards and recipes to ensure high-quality food that is attractively presented and delivered in a timely manner.

As a Cook at Arrow Senior Living, you will play multiple vital roles. First, you will be a Culinary Craftsman, responsible for preparing meals according to the company’s quality and presentation standards. Additionally, you will be tasked with maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the dining area, ensuring strict adherence to health protocols including hygiene, safe food preparation practices, and proper food temperature control. Beyond food preparation and sanitation, you will act as a Culinary Connector by engaging with residents, learning their preferences and needs, and participating in resident orientations to enhance their dining experience.

The role is suitable for individuals who are at least 18 years old and who can communicate effectively in English. A Food Handlers Card is mandatory for this position in line with Department of Health requirements. The job demands physical endurance as it involves standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping throughout the workday, as well as the ability to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Comfortable working in environments with extreme temperatures near cooking surfaces or walk-in freezers is essential, as is availability to work indoors and occasionally outdoors during events.

Arrow Senior Living values its employees by offering a comprehensive benefits package that includes a company-matched 401(k) plan with 100% match up to the first 3%, which is fully vested upon enrollment. Other benefits for full-time employees encompass medical, dental, and vision insurance starting the first of the month following 60 days of employment. Disability insurance, life insurance, and an employee assistance program are available to support employee well-being. Paid time off is offered, with full-time employees accruing up to 115 hours per year and part-time employees up to 30 hours annually. Additional benefits include tuition reimbursement available after 90 days for both full-time and part-time employees, an employee referral program, complimentary meals during shifts, a weekly employee recognition program, and options for daily pay and direct deposit. Arrow Senior Living emphasizes internal promotion, making it an excellent workplace for long-term career growth.

Joining Arrow Senior Living means becoming part of a compassionate and professional team where the work environment is as welcoming for employees as it is for residents. This role provides not only a job but a chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors by ensuring they receive quality meals in a caring setting. It offers a blend of culinary skill development, community engagement, and a supportive team culture that values its employees’ contributions and promotes from within.
