Job Description

Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services (VDM) is a renowned nonprofit organization with over 100 years of dedicated service to children and families throughout Los Angeles County. VDM is deeply committed to creating a community where every child and family is equipped and prepared to lead productive and fulfilling lives. The organization primarily serves the most vulnerable populations in the region, many of whom have been impacted by multi-generational inequities. Guided by core values of empowerment, equity, and excellence, Vista Del Mar provides a trauma-responsive continuum of care and services aimed at supporting children, youth, and families in Southern California. This dedication is reflected not only in the quality of their programs but also in their unwavering commitment to social justice and systemic change. Show More
At Vista Del Mar, the culture is built upon inclusivity, healing, and community care. The organization prioritizes the liberation and inclusion of marginalized communities and stands in unity for justice while acknowledging and confronting the long-standing systemic oppression affecting their clients, staff, and the broader communities they serve. Their approach fosters a healing environment and a strong sense of belonging, emphasizing actions that back their words. They encourage applications from Black, Indigenous, people of color, LGBTQ+, marginalized genders, disabled individuals, parents, system-impacted individuals, immigrants, and others affected by systemic oppression or gender-based violence.

The role of Cook at Vista Del Mar is a critical position that supports the well-being of their residents and staff by preparing and cooking meals in line with established guidelines. The Cook ensures that food served meets high standards of quality, taste, and presentation. This position operates within a supportive and mission-driven environment that values teamwork, respect, and excellent service. The role is full-time and offers a competitive hourly wage of $19.00 to $21.00. The fixed schedule is Monday through Friday from 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM.

As a Cook, you will be joining an organization that holds nationally recognized clinical programs accredited with the Gold Seal by the Joint Commission, the highest standard of accreditation. Additionally, Vista Del Mar’s educational facilities are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and its graduate degree programs are recognized worldwide for instructional quality. Beyond a rewarding role, Vista Del Mar provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, flexible spending accounts, a 403(b) retirement plan with employer contributions, paid mental health days, paid holidays, and exclusive discounts on cell phone plans with major carriers.

Joining Vista Del Mar means working for an organization that is committed to healing, inclusion, and social justice, where your contributions as a Cook help sustain the health and dignity of vulnerable children and families in the community. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who shares a passion for service, equity, and community impact while developing their culinary skills in a meaningful setting.Show Less
