Job Description
Kessler Hospitality is a distinguished hospitality company specializing in a portfolio of artistically inspired boutique hotels known for their unique design, luxurious accommodations, enriching ambiance, and intuitive service. With properties scattered across Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina, Kessler Hospitality has carved a niche in delivering redefined Bohemian luxury to travelers seeking immersive experiences combining art, music, and culture. This commitment to originality and artistic presentation makes the company a trailblazer in boutique hotel offerings, with roots as the founding member of the Marriott Autograph Collection, which launched with seven original hotel brands. Each Kessler hotel is a bold expression of style, catering especially to individualist travelers who value both comfort and creative environments in their stay.
Located in the heart of historic Savannah, the AAA Four Diamond JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District epitomizes the essence of the Kessler Hospitality experience. Housed in what was once a power plant, the hotel embraces history and modernity with three architecturally unique buildings: the Power Plant with its chic design, the romantic ambiance of the Three Muses, and the contemporary maritime details in the Atlantic building. Guests enjoy a wide range of activities and amenities including distinguished dining experiences, a revitalizing hotel spa, vibrant riverside bars, and lively entertainment districts just steps away. The hotel offers a marketplace for culture, cuisine, and social engagement, all nestled on Savannah's historic riverfront.
The Cook position at JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District is a critical role responsible for preparing food items across various hotel outlets including the restaurants, room service, employee cafeteria, and banquet events. This hourly role demands a dedicated culinary professional who can ensure food quality, consistency with standardized recipes, and uphold high culinary standards while maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and safety in the kitchen environment. The Cook plays an essential part in enhancing the guest experience by delivering appetizing and beautifully presented dishes, contributing directly to the hotel's reputation for excellence.
The scope of responsibilities includes the preparation and display of buffet items, careful handling of fresh ingredients, coordinating banquet food preparation as per event orders, and assisting in running efficient kitchen operations with a “Clean As You Go” policy. The role requires knowledgeable handling of various cooking techniques such as charbroiling, poaching, deep-frying, sautéing, braising, roasting, and par-cooking, along with familiarity with herbs and spices and their appropriate use. The Cook must also maintain a safe working environment, operate kitchen equipment responsibly, support various kitchen stations when necessary, and adhere strictly to health and safety regulations. This position often involves flexible and long working hours, standing for entire shifts, and enduring temperature variations common in a bustling kitchen.
Offering a vital culinary presence within one of Savannah’s premier boutique hotel environments, this role is an exceptional opportunity for experienced cooks passionate about high-quality food preparation and dedicated to contributing to a distinguished guest experience within a vibrant cultural setting.
