Job Description
Delaware North Sportservice is a prominent hospitality and food service provider, operating within various prestigious venues, including renowned sports arenas, national parks, and entertainment complexes. Home to over 100 years of tradition, Delaware North has built a legacy rooted in exceptional customer service, innovation, and a deep commitment to diversity and inclusion. One of their notable partnerships is with the Detroit Tigers, where they manage concessions, premium dining, and retail services at Comerica Park, a 41,297-seat stadium in Detroit, Michigan. With a rich history dating back to 1930, Delaware North has become an integral part of Detroit's sporting and culinary culture, delivering unique and memorable dining experiences to guests.
This job opportunity is for a seasonal Cook 2 position at Comerica Park, where candidates will be part of a dynamic and passionate culinary team. As a Cook 2, you will serve as a visible leader within the kitchen, tasked with preparing food that meets high standards of quality and safety. You will be responsible for reviewing menus, ensuring food is prepared according to strict portion sizes, maintaining proper temperatures, and complying with sanitation regulations. This role offers a blend of creativity and discipline, promoting growth within a collaborative team environment that values culinary excellence.
The position offers competitive pay ranging from $18.25 to $20.00 per hour, reflecting the skill and dedication expected from candidates. Delaware North provides an extensive benefits package designed not only to reward the professional achievements of its employees but also to support their personal well-being. These benefits include weekly pay, employee discounts, flexible scheduling to accommodate different lifestyles, and various insurance plans including health, dental, and vision. Eligible team members have access to a 401(k) retirement plan with a company match, paid vacation and holidays, parental bonding leave, employee assistance programs, and opportunities for tuition or professional certification reimbursement.
Emphasizing safety, teamwork, and professional development, this role demands physical stamina and an ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Responsibilities extend beyond food preparation to include maintaining cleanliness and organization of workstations, managing inventory, and adhering to waste control guidelines, ensuring a seamless and sanitary kitchen operation. Given the nature of the job, candidates must be comfortable with lifting heavy items (up to 35 lbs), standing and walking for the entire shift, and being exposed to variable kitchen temperatures.
This seasonal role primarily involves evening and weekend shifts, often coinciding with major events at Comerica Park, allowing team members to experience the excitement and energy of live sports while contributing to the memorable dining experiences of tens of thousands of guests. Delaware North’s inclusive culture welcomes individuals from diverse backgrounds and offers opportunities for career advancement in various sectors of hospitality, including sports venue food service, retail, and premium dining. If you are an enthusiastic culinary professional looking to grow your career in a respected and supportive environment, Delaware North invites you to apply and become a valuable member of their team at Comerica Park.
