  • experience equal to two years of full-time work in quantity food production in a commercial, military, hospital or institutional setting
  • or successful completion of a military, vocational or community college program in commercial cooking and one year of qualifying experience
  • or current continuous experience in the state executive branch with six months of full-time experience as a Cook 1

Job Duties

  • prepare food items for 280 meals per day
  • adhere to food nutritional value per the recommended daily food allowance
  • operate commercial kitchen equipment including skillets, ovens, warming trays, fryers
  • maintain sanitary standards for food service operations through observation and instruction
  • maintain control of kitchen tools, equipment, and food supplies to uphold security procedures
  • monitor food temperatures to ensure safe serving and storage
  • transport meals to clients at various locations
  • verify inventory and use the oldest food first
  • maintain ServSafe certification and complete required recertification training
