The hiring company is an organization that provides meal services, particularly focused on catering to the dietary needs of residents in various settings, including assisted living facilities, clinics, and group homes within Baltimore, MD. This company prioritizes safe food preparation, adherence to nutritional guidelines, and maintaining high standards of kitchen cleanliness and food safety, complying with health department regulations. The company likely services a diverse group of clients who depend on meal services tailored to their specific health conditions, such as diabetic, low-sodium, and gluten-free diets. They operate with a flexible, on-call work structure that demands adaptability from their staff to meet varying scheduling needs.
This position, titled Cook 2 (also known as Chef or Meal Services), is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt W-2 role based in Baltimore, MD. The role pays between $15.00 and $20.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. It operates primarily on an on-call basis requiring approximately 10 hours of work per day up to 30 hours per week, with no fixed shift days or hours. The flexibility to work as scheduled according to business demand is essential.
The Cook 2's primary responsibility is to plan, prepare, cook, and safely deliver meals compliant with residents' dietary needs, preferences, and nutritional guidelines. This includes adapting recipes for specialized dietary restrictions, ensuring food safety and attractive presentation, and timely serving of meals. The cook collaborates closely with kitchen staff, dietary personnel, caregivers, and management to maintain smooth operations. Responsibilities also include monitoring and managing food inventory, minimizing waste, supporting meal delivery, participating in quality assurance initiatives, and upholding cleanliness and safety standards.
Ideal candidates will have proven culinary experience preferably in healthcare-related settings such as assisted living facilities or hospitals, strong multitasking and interpersonal skills, knowledge of food safety rules, and the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments. Candidates should have at least a high school diploma, with formal culinary training considered an advantage. Certifications like ServSafe and CPR/First Aid are preferred but not mandatory. The position includes physical demands such as standing for long periods and safely lifting up to 50 lbs. Working conditions may involve clinical settings or group homes.
Overall, this is an essential role that directly impacts residents' health and well-being by ensuring nutritious, safe, and enjoyable meals are delivered consistently. The company offers a competitive compensation and a benefits package including paid time off, family and medical leave, supplemental insurance options, retirement plans, and opportunities for professional development, fostering a supportive and rewarding work environment for its employees.
