Job Description
This job opportunity is with a well-established restaurant known for its commitment to quality food and service. The restaurant operates in a fast-paced environment where the focus is on preparing delicious meals that meet the highest standards for taste and presentation. The establishment takes pride in creating a positive dining experience for every customer through its dedicated team of culinary professionals and frontline staff. The work environment is dynamic, requiring teamwork, attention to detail, and adherence to food safety standards to ensure customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
The role being offered is for a Cook, who will work under the immediate supervision of the Manager on Duty (MOD). This is a nonexempt position, meaning it is typically hourly and eligible for overtime. The Cook plays a critical role in food preparation, ensuring all products are cooked, prepared, and packaged in accordance with the company’s operational and quality standards. This position requires hands-on engagement with multiple cooking and preparation stations, including operating the dresser, front and back swamp stations, grill, and food prep areas. The Cook must also maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the kitchen, following prescribed procedures such as disposing of trash properly, mopping, sweeping, washing dishes and utensils, sanitizing food preparation surfaces, cleaning kitchen equipment, and managing grease disposal. Regular attendance and adherence to schedules, which may include irregular hours such as nights, weekends, and holidays, are essential for success in this role.
In addition to cooking duties, the Cook is responsible for reporting any customer or employee complaints to the Manager on Duty, moving and stocking food products that may weigh up to 50 pounds, and performing any other job-related duties as assigned or required by management. This role demands physical stamina due to continuous standing, bending, reaching, moving, stooping, stretching, and lifting in a busy restaurant kitchen environment. There is frequent exposure to heat, hot liquids, freezer conditions, and occasionally extreme weather conditions that may affect the work environment.
Ideal candidates will have a foundational knowledge of restaurant or retail food service operations, basic math and literacy skills, and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. The ability to follow directions accurately and proficiently multitask in a busy setting is critical for maintaining the quality and timeliness of food service operations. This position provides a great opportunity for individuals looking to grow their culinary skills and contribute to a team-driven food service environment where quality and customer satisfaction are valued.
