The Cook position at HMSHost is a vital role responsible for preparing a variety of cooked foods while mastering all station functions including fry, flat top griddle, pantry, and egg preparation. This is a non-exempt, hourly role starting at $17.00 per hour that demands both technical culinary skills and the ability to work efficiently in a high-volume casual dining environment. The Cook must follow precise recipes, maintain exceptional standards in food safety and sanitation as defined by HACCP, and ensure accurate inventory and production planning. Moreover, clear communication with management and servers is critical to handle ticket times and resolve potential kitchen issues promptly. In addition to food preparation, the Cook is expected to maintain cleanliness of workstations and equipment, handle various kitchen tools and equipment safely, and manage the stocking and rotation of food products to ensure freshness and compliance with safety standards.

Job Requirements
- Food preparation skills and knowledge of HACCP standards
- Minimum of 1 year of closely related cooking experience
- Work experience in high volume and casual dining restaurant environment preferred
- Food knowledge pertaining to soups, sauté, broiler, fry, and pantry
- Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents
- Ability to converse comfortably with customers
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
- Ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions
- Frequently immerse hands in water and water diluted with chemical solutions
- Frequently work with sharp knives, utensils, and hot plates
- Frequently work in hot environment
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of closely related cooking experience
- Experience in high volume and casual dining restaurant environment preferred
- Knowledge of food preparation skills and HACCP standards

Job Duties
- Follow recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving food items including soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other food and beverage products
- Taste products, follow menus, estimate food requirements, check production and keep records to plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment as needed
- Clean and sanitize work stations and equipment
- Practice excellent food safety and sanitation practices and comply with HACCP standards
- Operate a variety of kitchen equipment
- Measure and mix ingredients, wash, peel, cut and shred fruits and vegetables
- Stock, date, rotate, and check temperature of product
