The role of Prepared Foods Cook at Good Foods Co-op is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about cooking and using quality ingredients. This position involves working hands-on in the heart of the kitchen, crafting fresh menu items daily that meet the high standards of the co-op’s clientele. As part of the Prepared Foods department, the cook plays a critical role in bringing the department to life, ensuring that the food prepared is not only delicious but aligns with the co-op's commitment to sustainability, local sourcing, and food safety. This is a full-time position with a starting wage of $15.86 per hour, complemented by annual reviews, growth opportunities, and benefits eligibility after 90 days.

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing various fresh menu items following specific recipes and production needs. Maintaining an organized, well-stocked, and efficient kitchen workspace is essential to enable smooth daily operation. Food safety and sanitation standards must be rigorously followed to maintain a clean and safe environment for both employees and customers. Customer service is a vital aspect of this role, as it includes providing friendly, helpful interactions that create a welcoming experience for shoppers in the Prepared Foods department. Job Requirements

  • Must be available to work as scheduled, shifts might include early mornings, evenings and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous grocery deli or food service experience preferred
  • high level of interest in natural and organic foods
  • high level of interest in the cooperative business structure and in the long-term sustainability of locally-owned, independent businesses preferred
  • very strong work ethic and demonstrable attention to detail
  • experience working with the public
  • experience with diverse cultures and backgrounds preferred
  • availability to work scheduled shifts including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
