Among its many endeavors, Ebenezer manages the Lake City Care Center, a Skilled Nursing Facility located in the picturesque town of Lake City, Minnesota, nestled close to Lake Pepin in the southeast part of the state. The Cook position at Ebenezer’s Lake City Care Center plays an integral role in supporting the wellbeing of adult residents by preparing and cooking meals in accordance with standardized recipes and nutritional guidelines. Job Requirements
- 0-1 years of experience
- Must be 18 or older
- Ability to use technology including computers, handheld devices, cell phones, and fax machines
- Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, and Word
- Obtain Food Sanitation Safety certification within 90 days or become Certified Food Protection Manager if working in Minnesota
- Ability to follow infection control and safety procedures
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work evening shifts and every other weekend
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to supervise staff in the absence of management
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Properly cook foods to specified temperatures and quality standards
- Follow standardized recipes and products to ensure consistency in quality and nutritional value
- Weigh and measure ingredients per standardized recipes
- Use correct portioning utensils
- Assemble food within specified time frames
- Provide production and meal service in a timely manner
- Accurately complete tasks listed on daily preparation sheets
- Plate meals for residents, staff, visitors, and volunteers attractively
- Follow food storage guidelines for proper refrigeration and dry storage
- Handle and prepare food safely according to infection control and safety policies
- Take and document food temperatures and make adjustments to meet standards
- Follow hand washing procedures and wear gloves when preparing and serving food
- Adhere to dress and personal hygiene codes
- Follow employee health guidelines to prevent disease transmission
- Cover, label, and date foods prior to storing
- Document temperatures of refrigeration and freezer units
- Sanitize equipment and work area after each use
- Maintain clean and dirty areas separately
- Use appropriate equipment and chemicals per manufacturer recommendations
- Complete assigned cleaning duties
- Supervise kitchen staff in the absence of management
- Assist with training new staff and developing procedures
- Manage customer service for residents and guests as needed
- Provide guidance and support to culinary staff
- Report performance issues to the director
- Perform other duties as assigned, including answering phones, assisting with events, and professionally responding to concerns
