The Cook position on the Culinary Services team plays a vital role in supporting the hospital's mission of providing the best care for patients and staff through the preparation of fresh, nutritious meals. This full-time role involves preparing and cooking hot and cold food items using standardized recipes and production forecasts to ensure accurate quantities and timely service. The position offers a varied shift schedule that includes early morning, midday, and evening shifts, with weekend and holiday rotations required. Employees enjoy a weekend shift differential pay of $1.50 per hour when applicable.

This role demands proficiency in food preparation with an emphasis on safety and sanitation guidelines. Candidates should have prior experience in a fast-paced cooking environment, preferably with grill cooking skills. The cook will ensure cleanliness and orderliness in their work areas, maintain food and supply inventory levels, and assist other kitchen staff as needed. The job also includes responsibilities like checking and logging food and equipment temperatures and reporting any issues to supervisors. Job Duties

  • prepares and cooks hot and cold food items using standardized recipes and calculates production quantities
  • may be assigned to work in the retail cafe grill area or cook breakfast items

  • maintains par levels of food and supplies, orders and restocks items, rotates food stocks
