Job Description

Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS) is a nonprofit, faith-based organization headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota, dedicated to enriching the lives of older adults through comprehensive housing, care, and service options. Established in 1955, PHS has grown to become one of the largest providers of senior housing and services in the United States, serving more than 41,800 older adults across 60 affiliated communities in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. With a team of approximately 8,000 employees and strategic partnerships such as co-ownership of Genevive, Minnesota's largest geriatric primary care practice, PHS is committed to promoting independence, purposeful living, and overall well-being among the older adult population. The organization’s foundation is rooted in Christian ministry values, with a mission to honor God by enriching lives and touching hearts through compassionate service.

Optage Meals, a division within PHS, is currently seeking a full-time Cook to join its Nutrition and Culinary team. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about preparing nutritious and appetizing meals for older adults within a supportive, faith-based environment. The position operates from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, offering a stable schedule without evenings or weekend shifts. This role provides the ideal setting for team-oriented individuals who want to contribute to a vibrant community while growing professionally in a close-knit organizational culture.

The Cook plays a critical role in delivering high-quality dining experiences by creating meals that are not only nutritious but also visually appealing and flavorful. They ensure that all food preparation complies with state and federal food safety regulations and established organizational policies and procedures to maintain the highest standards of service and safety. Members of the Optage Meals team are deeply committed to the mission of PHS, bringing care and compassion to every meal service. The organization values employees who align with its core Christian principles and support a culture of respect, welcoming all individuals with open arms.

In joining PHS and the Optage Meals team, the candidate becomes part of a community-focused ministry that emphasizes empowerment, education, and inspiration. Employees are encouraged to bring their talents and receive the support necessary to succeed and grow within the company. The Cook position is compensation based with an estimated starting hourly wage range of $21.00 to $22.64, reflecting the expertise and experience brought to the role. In addition to a competitive wage, a rich benefits package is available for eligible employees, providing health, dental, life insurance, retirement options, and paid time off among others.

Working with PHS means contributing to an organization where faith and service intersect to create meaningful opportunities for older adults and staff alike. It is an environment committed to employee growth and satisfaction, as well as serving the community with grace and dignity. Whether you are seeking full-time employment with substantial benefits or part-time hours with access to educational and wellness resources, PHS offers flexible work options that recognize and reward commitment and hard work. Become part of a mission-driven team that makes a significant impact every day through quality nutrition and heartfelt care.
