This Food Service Worker role at UCSF is integral to its Nutrition & Food Services department, contributing directly to the hospital's mission of providing exceptional patient and customer experiences. The position involves teamwork and collaboration to deliver food services that are safe, accurate, timely, and responsive to the needs of patients and customers. The role encompasses preparation of foods for Patient Food Services, Retail Food Services, and Catering Services. The worker is responsible not only for cooking but also for stocking, assembling, portion-controlling hot and cold foods, replenishing food stations, and maintaining sanitation standards. An essential part of the position is establishing and monitoring food quality and temperature standards to ensure consistency and the highest possible quality.
Additionally, the Food Service Worker serves as a Culinary Ambassador for the Nutrition & Food Services department, providing excellent interpersonal interaction with customers, patients, and staff. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in foodservice areas and equipment is critical to this role, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. This employment opportunity embodies a flexible work environment as the role may require working across various UCSF Medical Center locations. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent work experience, with preferred candidates having completed culinary school or possessing two years of food production experience. Preferred qualifications include additional education such as two years of college, hands-on experience in large-scale food production environments, familiarity with industrial kitchen equipment like blast chillers and steam jacketed kettles, and ServSafe certification.
