White Plains Hospital is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Food Service Worker to join its Food Nutrition Department. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the delivery of nutritious and well-prepared meals to patients and guests, supporting the hospital's "Catering to You" meal program. The Food Service Worker will engage in various food preparation tasks, including hot food production and cold food preparation, along with stocking, delivery, assembling meals, and maintaining sanitation standards. The role requires adherence to established policies and procedures, including the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines, safety measures, and recipe standards.
This is a full-time position with a day shift schedule from 3 PM to 11 PM, covering Monday to Friday with alternating weekends and holidays. The scheduled working hours amount to 75 hours per pay period. The pay rate for this role is set at $25.40 per hour, subject to potential adjustment based on shift differentials, experience, education, or other relevant factors. The Food Service Worker must maintain professionalism and punctuality, wear the provided uniform and visible identification badge, and demonstrate knowledge of department standards and hospital policies.
The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for those with a culinary degree or certificate program. Experience in healthcare, restaurant, or hotel culinary settings ranging from 1 to 6 years is highly desirable. The candidate should be capable of reading menus and recipes accurately, working efficiently under pressure, and maintaining composure during stressful situations. The hospital values continuous learning and requires attendance at staff meetings or in-service training, along with successful completion of annual competency assessments.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Culinary degree or certificate program preferred
- 1-6 years culinary experience in healthcare, restaurant, or hotel preferred

Job Qualifications
- High school required or
- GED required or
- Certificate culinary degree or certificate program preferred or
- 4-6 years 5 years culinary experience in healthcare/restaurant/hotel preferred or
- 1-3 years Culinary degree or certificate program preferred
- Must be able to read a menu and menu ticket, ability to read a recipe, ability to work under pressure, ability to maintain an even temperament in stressful situations (high proficiency)
- Culinary certificate preferred
Job Duties
- Adheres to WPH performance standards, policies and behaviors
- Punches in/out as required based on assigned work schedule
- Reports to kitchen ready to work in uniform as provided with visible identification badge
- Demonstrates/articulates an understanding of responsibilities of the assigned positions
- Verbalizes and applies knowledge of current department policies and procedures
- Attends staff meeting, in-service or equivalent to update knowledge related to current department/hospital issues as required or requested
- Completes annual department/hospital competency requirements and they are documented appropriately on Competency/Education Record
- Performs all other related duties as assigned
- Adhere to HACCP guidelines

- Adhere to safety guidelines
