Their Chartwells K12 division specializes in providing nutritious and appealing meals to students across various educational institutions, ranging from large public schools to small private and charter schools. With over 16,000 associates serving in more than 4,300 schools, Chartwells K12 leverages decades of experience in foodservice along with top culinary and operational expertise to create customized dining programs that promote healthier eating habits and greater student satisfaction. Their focus is not only on satisfying hunger but also on ensuring students leave the cafeteria happier and healthier than when they arrived, offering food kids love to eat and menus designed with attention to dietary needs and wellness guidelines.

This particular role is for a full-time Cook position located at Los Alamos High School in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The position offers a fixed pay rate of $21.00 per hour and a workweek primarily from Monday through Friday, with hours varying based on production schedules. As a Cook at Chartwells K12, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and ensuring that meals meet production and delivery schedules. You will handle portion control, presentation, and temperature maintenance of meals to meet company standards. Your daily tasks will also include ensuring cleanliness and organization of kitchen work areas, operating kitchen equipment safely, and assisting in production planning and inventory management. Safety is a priority in this role, requiring adherence to policies such as wearing protective gloves and slip-resistant footwear, and practicing proper lifting techniques.

The role offers opportunities to contribute proactively by reporting equipment malfunctions or safety hazards promptly and participating in ongoing safety and in-service meetings. You will work closely with coworkers, managers, and school administrators to foster a collaborative and efficient working environment that supports the mission of Chartwells K12. Being part of this team means committing to personal safety and the safety of others, delivering excellent customer service, and upholding company policies and procedures consistently.

Furthermore, the position is designed with flexibility centered around the academic calendar, which may mean periods of temporary layoff during school breaks. However, depending on operational needs, work may be available year-round or at alternative locations during off-peak times. As a full-time associate, you will also be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, retirement plans, and wellness programs, among others.

Joining Compass Group and Chartwells K12 means becoming part of a diverse and inclusive workforce that values fairness, equality, and the professional growth of all associates.
