The organization prides itself on fostering an inclusive culture where employees are valued and respected, promoting diversity and equal opportunities for all. Sodexo's commitment to social, economic, and environmental progress underscores its mission to create better everyday experiences for everyone.
This full-time Cook position is based at the Milwaukee School of Engineering and offers an hourly wage ranging from $19 to $22. The role involves preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a wide array of both hot and cold food items according to Sodexo’s culinary standards. Working afternoons and evenings with varying shifts, including some weekends and holidays, this position plays a vital part in delivering high-quality food service in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
As a Cook at Sodexo, you will be expected to maintain a clean, organized workstation while ensuring all food items are prepared safely, accurately, and efficiently. This role supports Sodexo’s commitment to an exceptional dining experience by emphasizing food quality, presentation, and teamwork among kitchen staff. Additionally, the Cook is responsible for adhering to food safety and sanitation regulations, preparing food according to federal, state, corporate standards, and following basic recipes and product directions for a diverse menu. Duties include tasting products, reading menus, estimating food requirements, and maintaining accurate production records to manage inventory effectively.
Physical demands of the job include significant walking and mobility, standing for extended periods (often exceeding eight hours per shift), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 35 pounds regularly, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. The position requires the ability to perform repetitive motions and a commitment to punctuality and consistent attendance. Depending on client requirements, responsibilities may vary and additional duties could be assigned to meet business needs.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience with up to two years of related work experience. Familiarity with kitchen equipment and a solid knowledge of food preparation practices are preferred. The ability to follow written and verbal instructions, read and follow recipes independently, and maintain good communication within the team is essential for success.
Sodexo offers a flexible and supportive work environment that values work-life balance, ongoing training and development with opportunities for career advancement, and a comprehensive benefits package. Benefits include paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, and vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, 401k plans, discount programs, and more. Some locations may provide additional site-specific perks such as free shift meals or allowances, uniforms, safety shoes, transportation support, and parking.
Working at Sodexo means becoming part of a diverse and inclusive workplace where your contributions matter and your ideas are heard. Committed to equal employment opportunity, Sodexo respects and supports all employees regardless of race, color, religion, gender identity, age, or any other protected characteristic. By joining Sodexo as a Cook, you will have the opportunity to grow your career professionally in a company that truly cares about its people and the communities it serves.
