Job Description

Sodexo is a global leader in quality of life services, dedicated to improving the everyday experiences of millions of people around the world. Specializing in food services, facilities management, and integrated solutions, Sodexo partners with a wide range of clients including educational institutions, corporations, healthcare facilities, and government agencies. The company is committed to fostering economic, social, and environmental progress in the communities where it operates, emphasizing respect, inclusivity, and equal opportunity for all employees. Sodexo's mission is to create a better everyday for everyone and build a better life for all, making it a great place to work and grow professionally.

This position is for a Cook at Monroe Community College with Sodexo, offering full-time employment with a pay range of $18.00 to $20.00 per hour. The role involves working varying shifts with a preference for open availability. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic kitchen environment and are passionate about delivering high-quality food and exceptional dining experiences.

As a Cook at Sodexo, you will be responsible for preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a diverse range of hot and cold food items according to Sodexo's culinary standards for quality, presentation, and consistency. The role requires meticulous attention to food safety standards and sanitation practices, ensuring every dish meets the highest requirements while maintaining a clean and organized work environment. You will engage in a variety of kitchen tasks including following recipes, seasoning, tasting, carving, and serving a wide array of dishes across meal periods and special events.

This role demands physical endurance as it involves significant walking, standing for extended periods, and manual lifting of food supplies and equipment. The cook must be able to handle repetitive motions and physical tasks such as bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling. Strong teamwork skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently within a busy kitchen setting. Sodexo supports its cooks by providing ongoing training and development opportunities aimed at career advancement and fostering a supportive work environment that balances professional duties with personal life commitments.

Sodexo’s commitment to diversity and inclusion means that every employee is valued and respected regardless of their background. The company promotes an inclusive culture where ideas and opinions are welcomed, strengthening the team and enhancing workplace satisfaction. It is a place where you can grow, learn, and contribute meaningfully to the quality of life through your work. The Cook role at Monroe Community College not only offers a solid salary but also a comprehensive benefits package to support you and your family’s well-being, making Sodexo more than just an employer—it is a community that cares.
