Job Description
Cracker Barrel is a beloved American restaurant and retail company that has been serving up more than just meals since 1969. Known for its unique combination of hearty comfort food and nostalgic retail shops, Cracker Barrel provides a welcoming atmosphere where guests can enjoy good food and meaningful moments in a setting that feels like home. With over 70,000 team members nationwide, Cracker Barrel is dedicated to creating a culture of belonging, teamwork, and pride in their work as they continue their mission to be a gathering place for people. Their commitment to quality, community, and customer experience has made them a staple in the hospitality industry, combining traditional Southern hospitality with a modern approach to employee growth and customer satisfaction.
The Cook position at Cracker Barrel is an integral role within the kitchen team, focused on preparing and cooking meals that make each guest’s visit a memorable experience. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where the quality of the food and service is paramount. Whether prepping ingredients, preparing breakfast favorites, or plating dishes, this job is about more than just cooking — it’s about making moments that count with heart, hustle, and teamwork. Cracker Barrel welcomes individuals with or without prior restaurant experience, providing comprehensive training through their industry-leading PAR training program to help new hires develop and thrive from day one. The Cook will work alongside a supportive team, ensuring that every dish meets the high standards of taste and presentation that guests expect from Cracker Barrel.
In addition to being a fulfilling role for those who take pride in their work and enjoy working as part of a team, this position also provides practical benefits that show Cracker Barrel’s commitment to its employees. These include competitive and consistent weekly pay with options for same day pay access, health insurance eligibility from the very first day of employment for both full-time and part-time employees, opportunities for vacation, and participation in an employee assistance program. Beyond these essentials, employees have access to 401k retirement plans with company matching, an employee stock purchase program, and a vibrant company culture rich with recognition programs, team events, and discounted merchandise. New team members can expect a welcoming onboarding experience and ongoing development opportunities designed to support both personal and professional growth.
At Cracker Barrel, cooks are more than just kitchen staff; they are vital contributors to the welcoming environment and outstanding dining experience. The company values individuals who take pride in a job well done, work well in teams, learn quickly, and maintain focus amidst the hectic pace of restaurant operations. A positive, can-do attitude is essential, helping create an atmosphere where every shift is an opportunity to grow and make a difference. By joining Cracker Barrel, cooks become part of a larger mission and family, where their efforts are appreciated, and they truly are "all in good company."
