Job Description

University Retirement Community is Davis' premier upscale senior living community, known for its commitment to providing luxury, resort-like living to its residents. Unlike traditional nursing homes or retirement centers, this community offers an unparalleled culinary experience designed to meet the highest standards of quality and taste. Located in a beautiful, scenic area, the community emphasizes not only comfort and well-being but also an exceptional quality of life. The focus is on creating an environment where residents feel valued and enjoy exceptional amenities without the need to leave the premises. This focus extends deeply into their culinary program, which is driven by a team of dedicated professionals passionate about food and service.

The role of Cook at University Retirement Community involves working alongside a team of culinary experts to produce outstanding food for a range of services. These include a fine-dining restaurant, an upscale casual Bistro, various catering events, and other culinary program areas. The ideal candidate will bring at least two years of relevant cooking experience and share a desire to push culinary boundaries, aiming to create memorable dining experiences for residents. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a morale-driven and friendly work environment, where teamwork and enjoyment at work are highly valued. Compensation ranges from $17.00 to $20.91 per hour, based on experience. Along with competitive wages, the community offers a suite of fantastic benefits, making this an attractive career opportunity for cooks seeking both professional growth and a supportive workplace.

University Retirement Community prioritizes employee well-being through benefits such as 100 percent paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k plan with company match and additional defined contributions, and access to an on-site fitness and aquatic center. Complimentary shift meals ensure that culinary staff can enjoy the fruits of their labor, while generous paid time off (PTO) policies support work-life balance. Employees are also encouraged to engage in wellness classes and company events, fostering a vibrant and inclusive culture. Additional incentives include an employee referral bonus program, scholarships for continuing education, and a daily pay option through PayActiv, underscoring the community's commitment to employee satisfaction and financial flexibility.

To qualify for this role, candidates must hold a valid Food Handlers card, and possession of a ServSafe Food Safety Manager certificate is considered advantageous.
