The role of Cook at Eastcastle Place is an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals passionate about delivering exceptional food experiences in a healthcare setting. This full-time position offers a competitive wage of $19.00 per hour, negotiable based on experience, with a $1,000 sign-on bonus. The schedule is structured to provide work-life balance, requiring 40 hours per week with shifts primarily from 11:00 am to 7:30 pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, including every other weekend on a rotating basis. As a Cook, you will be a vital part of the hospitality team, working alongside other culinary professionals, such as sous chefs, executive chefs, and dishwashers. Your role involves preparing nutritious and satisfying meals that meet the unique dietary needs and preferences of the residents. This is a dynamic and fast-paced environment where attention to detail, teamwork, and professionalism are paramount.

In this position, cooks are responsible for assisting with meal preparation including setting up breakfast, following precise recipes, and adhering to strict dietary guidelines. The role demands maintaining kitchen and dining area cleanliness, ensuring timely meal service, and upholding the highest standards of food quality and safety. You'll engage in preparing soups, stocks, sauces, boiling, braising, roasting, sautéing, frying, grilling, steaming, and baking according to standardized recipes. Planning food production to align with meal serving hours so that the temperature, appearance, and quality of food are optimal is essential. You will determine the quantities of food and supplies needed daily and coordinate procurement from storage efficiently. Collaboration with other cooks is necessary to ensure smooth, timely service and to resolve any issues related to resident orders. Additionally, completing quality assurance checklists and maintaining proper food storage with accurate labeling is a key responsibility. Job Duties

  • Assist in meal preparation, including setting up breakfast and following recipes accurately
  • Adhere to dietary guidelines and ensure that meals meet resident preferences and nutritional needs
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety in the kitchen and dining areas
  • Work as part of a team to ensure timely and high-quality meal service
  • Model professionalism, collaboration, and hospitality in every interaction
  • Prepare all soups, stocks, sauces
  • boils, braises and roasts items as per standardized recipes
  • Prepare and serves all sautéed, fried, grilled, steamed and baked items as per standardized recipes
  • Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours, so that excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food is preserved
  • Determine amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus and obtaining from storage areas in adequate time for meal production
  • Assist other cooks to ensure that meal service is completed in a timely manner
  • Efficiently resolving problems with resident orders
  • Complete all necessary logs and quality assurance checklists, and ensure proper food storage with date and labels when not in use
