Job Description
Good Foods Co-op is a community-owned natural foods grocery dedicated to providing high-quality, local, and sustainable products. As a cooperative, it is committed to supporting the community, local farmers, and producers while creating a welcoming and inclusive shopping experience for all customers. The co-op emphasizes values such as collaboration, respect, and sustainability, aiming to not only offer excellent products but also to make a positive impact through sustainable business practices and community engagement. The store fosters an environment where customers and employees alike feel connected to the local food system and community well-being.
The Prepared Foods Cook plays an essential role within Good Foods Co-op by bringing the Prepared Foods department to life every day. This position involves preparing fresh menu items according to recipes and production needs while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment. The cook also handles duties such as stocking the kitchen, supporting inventory management, receiving and organizing products, minimizing waste, and providing friendly and helpful service to customers. The role requires a hands-on individual who enjoys working with quality ingredients and takes pride in their craft. They should value teamwork, have strong attention to detail, and be able to thrive in a physically active, fast-paced kitchen environment.
The position is suited to candidates who have previous food service experience, a passion for natural and organic foods, and an eagerness to contribute to the co-op’s mission of supporting local and sustainable food systems. Good Foods Co-op offers this role as a full-time opportunity with a starting wage of $15.86 per hour and annual reviews with growth opportunities. Full-time employees become eligible for a comprehensive benefits package after 90 days, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as a 401(k) plan with employer match after one year. All employees receive benefits such as store discounts and paid vacation time.
Working at Good Foods Co-op means more than just being an employee; it means becoming part of a vibrant, community-focused team that values meaningful work and mutual support. The environment is fast-paced and requires resilience and effective communication, but it also supports personal growth and a shared commitment to quality and sustainability.
