Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old due to equipment use restrictions
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- ServSafe Food Safety Certification required
- Food Handlers permit if required per state regulations
- Six months experience in large quantity food preparation
- Experience with therapeutic diet preparation preferred
- Six months experience in a long term care environment preferred

Job Duties
- Prepares food for regular and therapeutic diets according to a planned menu as well as for employees and special events as requested by the Culinary Manager
- Prepares alternative items to meet residents' individual needs and food preferences
- Prepares and/or portions food using proper food handling and food safety techniques according to policies and regulations
- Makes only authorized changes to the planned menu and records these changes
- Ensures food tastes good and is served attractively
- Utilizes standardized recipes to prepare menu items
- Ensures meals and snacks are delivered on schedule
- Maintains proper temperature of food during preparation and service and records temperatures
- Serves resident meals/snacks in accordance with planned menu and diet orders
- Uses correct portion control utensils during preparation and service
- Labels, dates, and stores food properly
- Ensures refrigerator/freezer temperatures are within range and records discrepancies
- Washes dishes and kitchen items according to procedures and records sanitizer and water temperatures
- Keeps work area clean and performs cleaning assignments
- Uses proper infection control and protective equipment
- Assists in receiving, storing, and verifying food and supply invoices
- Reports inadequate stock levels
- Uses food supplies and equipment efficiently to prevent waste
- Maintains kitchen security
- Follows proper safety techniques
- Operates and maintains equipment and reports problems
- Completes tasks on schedule
- Recommends improvements to recipes, menus, production, and equipment to enhance food service quality
- Works cooperatively with co-workers
- Interacts positively with residents, families, and visitors
- Ensures punctuality and regular attendance for shifts
